Course DescriptionThis fast-paced course is an
in-depth study of the mechanics, functions, and purpose of the news media. In
this course, students work in groups to produce the school newspaper. Students
enrolled in this full year course will earn one-half credit in English and
one-half credit in art. In order to fulfill the English requirement,
students receive direct instruction in writing, and will write a variety of news
stories for print and for broadcast. Emphasis will be placed on critical and
analytical thinking skills. Through the production of the school newspaper,
students will be introduced to graphic design, and will master the technical and
artistic skills necessary to create a professional quality newspaper design and
layout. |
